Marie Eason transitioned to her heavenly home on September 10, 2018
Marie was a graduate of Williston Senior High School, class of 1960. She attended Livingstone College where she was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
Marie enjoyed making a great impact in helping develop young minds through education. She retired from Pender County School system in 2010 where she was a social studies teacher. Marie loved the church and often shared fond memories of growing up in the parsonage of Warner Temple AME Zion Church where her grandfather was the presiding elder. Upon her return to North Carolina, she became an active member of St. Luke AME Zion Church. Her love for the Lord transcended into everything she did. Marie’s faith in God, upbringing and life experiences contributed to her elegance, grace, and candid interactions with all those she met. She always had a positive word to share and would often encourage others with sayings from her past such as “He sits high, He looks low, and He is working it out” and “never give up and never give in”. Through Marie’s life she established a legacy that will never be forgotten and will continue to be passed on through generations to come.
Marie leaves to mourn her children; Angela Renee’ Eason Dykes (Sandy), Vaughn Antony Eason, Courtney Marie Eason Allen (Theodore) and Yvonne Anita Eason; sisters and brothers, Delores Hassell Rhodes (Nick), Ervin Hassell Jr. (Vera), Anita Hassell Ojeko, Vivian Hassell Ajaye and William Hassell; cousin, Mildred Johnson Blake as well as a host of other family and friends.
